My 93y old father is going through dementia. So far his case is not yet extreme, however he is definitely not the person he used to be. One thing that we've noticed is that he uses excessive amounts of salt on his food. He will sit there and sprinkle salt on his food throughout his entire meal. The doctor thinks that this might be due to his Exelon patch, which apparently can cause dry mouth or could this be loss of taste? I cringe when I see him sprinkle so much salt on his food. Has anyone else experienced this with their loved one? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We've tried No Salt, but that doesn't seem like a much better solution.
