if my mother age 98 takes medication for low thyroid, high blood pressure,(Losartan) eyedrops for glaucoma, a water pill (hydrochlorit) as well as vitamin D (2000iu day) tums 4-6 a day , are lo dosages of anti-depressant/anxiety medications dangerous for her? for her age, with progressing dementia, is it too late to have her take medication like aricept or newer similar drugs

Min777, I'd ask this question of your local pharmacist. They are far more qualified to know about drugs, dosages, interactions than most. Call whatever pharmacy fills your mothers perscriptions. They should be able to answer your questions.

Of course, check with your DR, but my mother in law takes 12 pills a day all DR prescribed that includes low thyroid, 2 kinds of heart medicine, blood pressure meds, a water pill, vitamin D, aricept and namenda and more! As long as they are all prescribed by the same DR or a specialist they might send you to and you use only one pharmacy you should be pretty safe they would catch any negative interactions. Several months ago I took over the management of all her pills because she wasn't dosing herself correctly. Thank goodness for those little daily and weekly pill things so I can fill it up once a week and just make sure she takes it daily.
