My Dad has been in an Alzheimer's memory care facility for a little over a year now and seems to have adjusted as well as could be expected - he stopped asking to come home and recognizes many of the staff. He thinks I am his sister. But I need to move Dad soon due to financial reasons (Mom has just been diagnosed with dementia and is also in assisted living). He is nonambulatory, wheelchair-bound and on hospice, but fairly alert. Putting Mom and Dad together unfortunately won't work out - that was my first thought - because they are at very different stages in the disease. Thank you for any input.
