It absolutely depends on your particular situation. Hubby takes a ton of meds, including Eliquis at $1,000 a month. Last year, he was in the hospital and 2 rehabs and gone for 4 months. He certainly needs maximum coverage. I, on the other hand take one medication and haven’t been in the hospital for 6 years and that was elective surgery. When I go on Medicare this year I will seek out a low cost supplemental. I never use it. It’s like flushing the premium down the potty for me.

We both have/had Medigap C. My father only took 1 med and I take none except for the occasional infection. It just wasn't worth the cost for us to get a plan for drug coverage.

Medigap does not have a prescription plan. You would have to purchase it separately. My Mom had state help with her prescription plan so I picked Medigap. Medigap is good if the person covered travels regularly. I think Medigap can be used out of state. Medicare suppliments can't.

Jovivi, posters on this site may be able to share their experiences but everyone's situation is different. Each state has a SHIP group that guides individuals making these decisions. I believe you would get the best help from them.
