Find Care & Housing
I'm reading your profile as that you have 2 special needs daughters in your care as well as your mother?
The harsh reality is that parents usually do predecease their kids, and I have to say that my belief is that you need to begin to prepare them for life without you. The more care and activities involving outsiders the better, and some kind of group home or living situation independent from you if at all possible would be the kindest route in the long run.
As for your mother, she would most likely end up in an appropriate care facility, if there are no other family members willing or able to step up then as a ward of the state.

For your daughters, if their are no family or friends who will act as guardians until they are 18, they will become wards of the state and be placed in the foster care system. For Mother, it depends on her mental competency.

Do you have a trusted friend you could ask to look out for your daughter? I dont mean take them to live with them , but someone will look out for their well- being, handle financial affairs, and supervise wherever they go to live? Contact your local agency for developmental disabilities or mental retardation and speak with them. I believe Medicare has agencies who will help children with disabilities as well. Call them for advice. Also, make sure your own will and papers are in order so there are no questions about what you want to happen.

It sounds pathetic, but for various reasons none of my three brothers could be caregivers or even take responsibility. Over the years I have lost touch with all my my friends except those of have their own health issues. I have contacted various agencies and will see what happens. The provisions in my will only covered guardianship up to age 18. I am trying to find out about group homes. Thanks to all.
